At NBJCH our rehabilitation team uses an interdisciplinary approach of treating the whole person that combines physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, together with nursing. Following orders from the resident’s physician, the team works together to identify realistic goals and tailor a plan of care that meets individualized needs.
Our goal is to assist our residents in attaining their safest and highest level of function within their ability and potential.
Short-Term Rehabilitation Services
We provide rehabilitative services following a stroke or neurological disorder; respiratory and cardiac services; and orthopedic services following total hip and knee replacements, amputations and back surgery/pain, and much more.
Comprehensive rehabilitation services include:
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
To reach this goal, we utilize a variety of approaches according to each resident’s needs including:
- Strengthening exercises
- Balance activities
- Gait training
- Stair management training
- Activities of daily living (ADL) training-bathing, grooming, dressing, cooking
- Cognitive treatment
- Dysphasia management and treatment
- Speech/language treatment
- Wheelchair positioning
- Pain management
- Contracture management
- Wound care treatment
- Home safety assessments
- Therapeutic modalities including ultra sound and electrical stimulation
