Activities
We believe that stimulating and interesting activities are essential to maintaining and improving one’s quality of life. At the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home, our full range of stimulating and fun activities are designed to meet the physical, cognitive, social and spiritual needs of each resident.
Our Activities Director evaluates each resident and tries to match activities to their physical and cognitive ability. By providing a mixture of physical activity, intellectual challenge, craft opportunities and socialization, our residents are kept engaged and entertained. Through craft projects they are able to find a sense of purpose and accomplishment. Through physical activities and exercise, many are able to improve/maintain their mobility and manual dexterity. Through social activities they are able to avoid loneliness and isolation.
Outings to a beach area or local ice cream shop and bi-monthly BBQs are summertime favorites of our residents. And in the cooler months, residents look forward to our twice monthly brunches, as a time get together and enjoy each other’s company.
